About the Artist

I'M RACHEL LAUNDON

I am mixed-media, self-representing artist living and creating from my farmhouse nestled in the lush green mountains of Vermont. I draw inspiration from the natural world around me, infusing my work with a sense of creativity and a love for life. When I'm not hard at work, you can find me hitting the slopes for a thrilling ski session, trekking through the great outdoors on a hike, or pedaling through the stunning landscape on a bike. The beauty of nature constantly fuels my passion for art.

Creativity is like water to me, and when I am in a flow state of artmaking, it feels like riding the best wave.

About Fish Sculptures

For many years, I have been captivated by the rich and colorful universe that lives beneath the surface of water, and I find endless inspiration in the sleek and aerodynamic shapes of fish. In my artwork, I often represent species in their natural state, but I also enjoy creating their more abstract and fantastical alter egos.

Each of my one-of-a-kind pieces is carefully crafted from a combination of wood, architectural clay, hammered oxidized copper, glass, and repurposed objects. I hand-paint the vivid hues and patterns using acrylic, oil, or encaustic paint, and I am always on the quest to discover and learn new mediums and techniques to incorporate into my work. Creativity is like water to me, and when I am in a flow state of artmaking, it feels like riding the best wave.

About Soulscapes

After a decade of creating fish art, I am now introducing a new and equally captivating form of creativity: Soulscape paintings. These pieces are inspired by the living world around us, drawing on patterns, forms, and shapes found in nature, particularly plants, animals and the human body. The result is a collection of artwork that is uniquely expressive and evocative, stirring the imagination and senses with its vibrant colors and organic shapes.

From the first brushstroke to the final flourish, each Soulscape painting is a labor of love, crafted with care and infused with my heart and soul. Whether you're a fan of my earlier fish art or simply seeking something new and different, I hope my new work will captivate and inspire.
